Logline: When Detective Carla Simon is assigned a cold case involving a woman who vanished 45 years ago, she turns to an unlikely ally in Mr.Robinson, a retired detective battling Alzheimer's, whose fragmented memory may hold the key to solving the mystery.
Synopsis: In this modern take on classic detective noir, rookie detective Carla embarks on her inaugural case: unraveling a 45-year-old cold missing persons mystery. Complicating matters, her lone witness, a victim of Alzheimer's, soon emerges as her primary suspect. The case leads Carla to a property owned by retired detective Robinson, who had initially investigated the disappearance. Beneath the surface, the earth conceals a grim secret—eight female bodies, including Robinson's own wife who had vanished all those years ago. Together with Robinson, Carla navigates the dual realms of reality and recollection as they explore the former detective's old home. The truth gradually surfaces—Robinson's wife had been a serial killer, driven by jealousy, before ending her own life. The aging detective chose to conceal her monstrous deeds, personally interring the victims and stumbling upon a valuable gold nugget that sustained him over time. As Alzheimer's takes its toll, Robinson's memories and judgment falter. Yet, a glimmer of truth emerges: a trove of gold lies unclaimed in the nearby field. Seizing the opportunity, Carla strategically secures the field through an auction, securing her future and that of her family. This gripping tale weaves past and present, unraveling mysteries both criminal and personal.
